How to Solve Common Troubles with EDI Module

Troubles & Solutions
EDI systems that are already in use

In high-tech industries such as semiconductor manufacturing, pharmaceuticals, or power generation, even minor water quality issues can lead to production losses and quality risks. Therefore, understanding the common problems and solutions of EDI modules is of utmost importance for the preparation of ultra-pure water. This not only ensures the continuous and stable operation of the EDI system but also guarantees that the quality and supply of ultra-pure water are not affected. It can significantly reduce the risk of operational interruptions, optimize production efficiency, and ensure the quality and safety of critical processes and products.

Troubles & Solutions

Fault Possible Reasons Solution
High pressure difference Module blockage Identify the pollution categories and clean them according to corresponding procedures.
High water flow Adjust the flow to the required range.
Low pressure
difference
Low water flow Adjust the flow to the required range.
Low product
water flow
Module blockage Identify the pollution categories and clean them according to corresponding procedures.
Valve closed Confirm that all valves need to be opened normally open.
Low inlet water pressure Identify the causes and resolve them.
Poor water
quality
The polarity of the power supply is reversed. Immediately turn off the power supply and verify the wiring.
The working current is too low or too high. Adjust the working current to the specified range.
The temperature
compensation is not accurate.
Check the conductivity or resistivity meter and the temperature compensation.
The bolt torque is not uniform. Adjust torque to uniform.
Ion exchange membrane fouling or pollution. Cleaning module.
Water quality is not up to standard. Check the water quality, CO2 is a common influencing factor of poor water quality.
Feed water pressure is lower than that of concentrated water. Reset the concentrated water pressure to obtain the differential pressure of 0.03–0.1 MPa.
The feed water flow is abnormal. Adjust the water flow to the specified range.
Low water flow of concentrated water Module blockage Identify the pollution categories and clean them according to corresponding procedures.
Valve closed Check the position and wiring of the concentrated water flow switch.

By promptly identifying and addressing common issues with the EDI module along with regular maintenance and care, its lifespan can be effectively extended, ensuring efficient and stable operation.
