Antiscalant Training Empowers Team for Global Water Treatment Markets

Ecently, our company invited the team led by Liu Zhenxing, the foreign trade manager for antiscalant products, to conduct specialized antiscalant product training for our internal team. The training focused on the core requirements of foreign trade operations, streamlining unnecessary information to directly address the three critical areas: product selection, export practicalities, and situational communication, thereby enabling the team to engage with clients more effectively.

The foreign trade manager outlined our company's foreign trade markets (including Europe, America, the Middle East, and Africa), simplifying product categories and clarifying the product selection methodology as follows:

  • Antiscalant: Categorized into phosphate-containing and phosphate-free types (phosphate-containing offers superior efficacy, suitable for Africa and Southeast Asia; Phosphate-free variants comply with environmental regulations and are ideal for regions with stringent phosphate discharge standards). Products are also available as standard liquid or concentrated liquid (concentrated liquid offers lower transportation costs, making it suitable for long-haul orders to Europe and America). Additionally, an alkaline type (PO 630) is specifically designed for power plant applications.
  • Supporting chemicals: Oxidizing biocides (Sodium hypochlorite, requires commodity inspection), non-oxidizing biocides (for algae inhibition and membrane anti-fouling), and reducing agents (for RO membrane protection) form a complete solution covering pure water and circulating water applications.

Addressing foreign trade challenges, the foreign trade manager offers actionable solutions:

  • Customs Clearance and Freight Forwarder: Confirm "product name + documents + special requirements" (e.g., Zambia requires customs labels) with the overseas customs clearancet in advance; recommend cooperative freight forwarders to help control costs.
  • Commodity Inspection Simplification: Most antiscalants can bypass commodity inspection (saving over 2 months); only single-component products like Sodium hypochlorite are mandatory. The initial commodity inspection requires 2 months, subsequent inspections are reduced to within 1 week, with a cost of 700–900 yuan per instance.
  • Delivery Schedule Planning: For products not requiring commodity inspection, stocking and warehousing take 3–4 weeks, with an additional 2.5–3 months for international shipping. Advance planning ensures alignment with customer project timelines.

To enable the team to precisely address customer technical requirements, the training centered on two core scenarios:

  • Pure Water RO System: Antiscalant and non-oxidizing biocide should be introduced “after multimedia filtration but before the RO membrane.” If the client utilizes sodium hypochlorite for ultrafiltration backwash, an additional reducing agent must be recommended to eliminate residual chlorine.
  • Circulating Water System: Antiscalant is directly administered to the circulating water basin (for large systems exceeding 2000 cubic meters, shock dosing is recommended). Every 2–3 months, a slime remover should be applied to eliminate viscous buildup on equipment. Concurrently, clients should be advised to manage the concentration factor (based on chloride ions/calcium ions) to prevent corrosion and scaling.

This training, guided by the principles of "practicality and conciseness," established a knowledge framework for our company's foreign trade team regarding antiscalant export business. Subsequently, the foreign trade manager will also provide technical support and freight forwarder resource alignment, assisting our team in efficiently acquiring customers in the water treatment foreign trade market.
