How to Install Pressure Transmitters Correctly?

Installation & Precautions

Pressure transmitters are instruments widely used in industrial process control and monitoring. They can convert pressure changes into electrical signal output. Correct installation of pressure transmitters can not only ensure the accuracy of measurement, but also extend the service life of the equipment. The following is a detailed guide on pressure transmitter installation and precautions.

Precautions

The installation position of the pressure transmitter on the process pipe is related to the measured medium. In order to obtain better measurement results, the following should be considered:

  • Check whether there is signal interference around the pressure transmitter, if any, try to eliminate it, or connect the sensor's shield wire to a metal casing as much as possible to enhance the anti-interference capability.
  • Clean the installation holes regularly to ensure cleanness. Prevent the pressure transmitter from coming into contact with corrosive or overheated media.
  • When freezing occurs in winter, take antifreeze measures for pressure transmitter installed outdoors to prevent the liquid at the pressure inlet from volume expanding due to freezing and damaging the pressure sensor.
  • Prevent sediment from depositing inside the pipe.
  • When measuring liquid pressure, the pressure port should be opened on the side of the process pipe to avoid sedimentation.
  • When measuring gas pressure, the pressure port should be opened at the top of the process pipe, and the pressure transmitter should also be installed at the upper part of the process pipeline to allow accumulated liquid to easily flow into the process pipeline.
  • The breathing tube should be installed in a place with minimal temperature fluctuations.
  • When measuring steam or other high-temperature media, it is necessary to add a buffer tube (coil) or other condenser, and ensure the operating temperature of the pressure transmitter does not exceed its limit.
  • When measuring the liquid pressure, the installation position of the pressure transmitter should avoid the impact of liquid (water hammer phenomenon), so as to avoid damage caused by over pressure of the pressure sensor.
  • When wiring, pass the cable through a waterproof connector or coil and fasten the sealing nut to prevent rainwater from seeping into the pressure transmitter housing through the cable.

Following these installation and precautions can maximize the performance and reliability of the pressure transmitter, ensuring accurate and reliable pressure measurement in various industrial applications.
