Background
One of our European customers ordered 6 skids with 26 UF membranes (model SWFUF9095CU). The customer completed the system installation in Belgium and conducted water testing on the UF membranes. After passing the test, the equipment will be transported to Africa by sea. Due to the long transportation distance and the large size of the equipment, the customer plans to disassemble the UF membranes and transport them horizontally.
Q&A
Disassembling the UF membranes and using horizontal transportation is feasible, as long as the membranes are properly protected during transportation.
Since the water test has been completed and the membrane is in a wet state, it is recommended to prepare the protective solution according to the guidance in the UF membrane storage procedure and transportation technology documents and fill it into the membranes. The protective solution can protect these membranes from freezing and corrosion; under well-sealed conditions, it can effectively protect the membrane for 1–2 months. If there is slight microbial growth, rinsing with a large amount of clean water before reuse will restore normal conditions.
We provide an additional plug and a plastic protective bag for each UF membrane to ensure sealing during transportation. Sealing both ends of the membrane with the plug can prevent leakage of the protective liquid. Place the membrane in a plastic bag and seal it with a hot melt gun to further isolate it from the external environment.
